    Red Wolf Fish (Erythrinus erythrinus)

    Price range: $54.99 through $74.99

The Red, Rainbow, or High Fin Wolf is a smaller species of wolf fish found throughout the Amazon Basin in South America. Spotted Congo Puffer (Tetraodon schoutedeni)

    Price range: $159.99 through $199.99

One of the smallest and most peaceful of all freshwater puffers, the Spotted Congo or Schoutedeni Puffer is found in stretches of the middle Congo River in Central Africa. In the wild, they mainly inhabit clear water areas with moderate to low current and will do best in an aquarium with similar conditions. Peaceful, hardy, and active, they will get along with most tankmates as long as they aren’t small enough to be considered a meal.

  • Marble Motoro Stingray (Potamotrygon motoro)

    Marble Motoro Stingray (Potamotrygon motoro)

    $224.99

One of the most widespread species of freshwater ray in the world, the Motoro or Ocellated River Ray can be found in almost every major river basin in South America, and rays from different geographical regions often show variations in color and pattern. The “Marble Motoro” variant is one of the most strikingly marked, with many more small spots that tend to blend into a pattern of pure orange, black, and white with age. This variant is found in the Orinoco and Meta river drainages in Colombia and Venezuela. Although they grow to a fairly large size, Motoro Stingrays are generally considered to be the best “starter ray” for hobbyists looking to keep freshwater stingrays (although they are by no means a fish for beginners). Like all freshwater rays, they require perfect water quality, large, frequent water changes, and a very large aquarium. Recently imported rays may take some time to wean off live foods but will readily accept chopped earthworms or nightcrawlers right away.

Illegal in: AZ, AR, CA, FL, GA, HI, MS, NV, OK, TX and UT

    Hognose Brochis (Brochis multiradiatus)

Safe for planted aquaria, they are compatible with nearly any tankmates. When kept in optimal conditions, this species will spawn readily in the aquarium, often on the glass or other vertical flat surfaces.

    Cuckoo Catfish (Synodontis multipunctatus)

    $22.99

One of the more colorful and popular species of Synodontis, S. multipunctatus is known as the Cuckoo Catfish due to its habit of laying eggs in the nests of larger cichlid species, which then care for the young catfish as if they were their own offspring (a practice known as “brood parasitism”). Found in the cichlid-rich, rocky waters of Lake Tanganyika in Central Africa, these fish make excellent aquarium specimens and are typically bold and active fish. We are pleased to offer locally bred F1 specimens from wild-collected broodstock.
