  • Koran Angelfish (Pomacanthus semicirculatus)

    Koran Angelfish (Pomacanthus semicirculatus)

    Price range: $159.99 through $399.99

In the wild Koran Angelfish (Pomacanthus semiciculatus) consume a diet based on algae, tunicates, and sponges. However, they will accept any frozen and pellet foods provided in the aquarium. Koran Angelfish should be kept alone without any other angelfish in a tank that is at least 250 gallons with lots of live rock for hiding and browsing on. Unfortunately, because they tend to nip at both rocky and soft corals, these fish are not a suitable fit for a reef aquarium. These angelfish can be a wonderful addition to a saltwater fish tank and even hold their own with semi-aggressive species like larger tangs, puffers, and triggers.

  • Liberty Molly (Poecilia salvatoris)

    Liberty Molly (Poecilia salvatoris)

    $8.99

An aquarium hobby classic, the Molly is a livebearing species found through parts of Central America but it has been bred worldwide for the aquarium hobby for decades. In that time, the wild form has been developed in to dozens of varieties and color forms, including ‘Dalmatian’, Black, Gold, and others and wild varieties are rarely available. Relatively peaceful, Mollies are hardy, and active fish but may bully smaller or more slow moving tankmates. They are often recommended for beginners due to their ease of care. Catalina Tetra (Triportheus rotundatus)

    $8.99

A larger growing, surface dwelling species, the Catalina Tetra is found throughout much of the Amazon basin. In the aquarium, they are fast moving and always in motion, best kept in a school of 5 or more fish.  With their size and speed, these tetras make an ideal dither fish for medium sized South American Cichlids. Their tank should be kept tightly covered as they are easily spooked and likely to jump out if given the opportunity.

  • Red Eye Green Discus - Wild Rio Nanay (Symphisidon aequifasciatus)

Red Eye Green Discus – Wild Rio Nanay (Symphisidon aequifasciatus)

    Price range: $149.99 through $174.99

Long considered the most beautiful of all freshwater aquarium fish, the discus remains a popular fish for serious hobbyists. Regular, large water changes, a protein-rich varied diet, and warm water temperatures (78-84) will create ideal conditions for discus to thrive. Wild discus are sensitive to water quality and are best kept by experienced hobbyists, however their reputation for being challenging isn’t entirely deserved. They will do best in soft, slightly acidic water and may take weeks or even months to display their optimal colors in an aquarium but will reward patient aquarists with spectacular coloration and natural behaviors. Discus are found in loose aggregations in the wild, and should be kept in groups of at least 5 in the aquarium (8-10 is ideal).

  • GFP Copper Axolotl (Ambystoma mexicanum)

    GFP Copper Axolotl (Ambystoma mexicanum)

    $149.99
The Axolotl is a fascinating and unusual aquatic amphibian originating from the waterways surrounding Mexico City, where it is now considered an endangered species due to habitat loss and degradation. It is a close relative of the widespread Tiger Salamander found throughout much of the US but instead of emerging from water to live its adult form on land, the Axolotl remains in its juvenile aquatic form for its entire life, an evolutionary strategy known as neoteny. Due to their unique appearance and ease of care, Axolotls are popular aquatic pets and have been captive bred for the hobby for decades. In the aquarium, they will do best in relatively cool, well-oxygenated water and ideally should be kept individually, as they have the tendency to nip at the limbs and gills of other Axolotls or any tankmates. Hardy and undemanding, they should be provided a varied protein-based diet and either kept on a fine sand substrate or none at all, as they can ingest gravel or rocks accidentally.
