Gallagher’s Thorny Catfish (Rhinodoras gallagheri)

A unique doradid catfish found in the Orinoco Basin in Colombia and Venezuela, Gallagher’s Thorny Catfish is a peaceful, substrate feeding fish found in areas of moderate to fast water flow. In the wild, it feeds heavily on invertebrates including snails, but will accept most frozen or prepared sinking foods in the aquarium. This species is largely sedentary but is a fast and agile swimmer when necessary so will benefit from a spacious aquarium with plenty of open swimming space.
