An unusual, medium-growing Plotosid catfish found throughout coastal Australia and Oceania, the Shortfin Papuan Eel Catfish gets its common name from its extremely elongated, eel-like body. Like most of its relatives it is a hardy, but shy aquarium resident. Although they may eat smaller fish, they are peaceful towards most tankmates too large to be a meal.
