Goldline Knifefish (Sternopygus macrurus)

Price range: $149.99 through $299.99

A large, robust, and uniquely patterned species, the Goldline Knifefish (Sternopygus macrurus) is found throughout the Pacific coastal drainage of Colombia and Ecuador, where it inhabits a wide variety of habitat types. These knifefish can be found in fast-moving freshwater streams as well as brackish water estuaries so they appear to tolerate a wide variety of water conditions. A large and outgoing species which will readily eat small fish, these knifefish are ideal for a species tank or a community aquarium consisting of large but relatively peaceful tankmates. Like most knifefish, they appreciate having ample hiding places but are not particularly shy.
