The Big Eye Cichlid (Acaronia nassa) originates from the Amazon basin of South America. This fish has uniquely large eyes, which it utilizes to hunt in the amber-colored water for shrimp, small fish, and aquatic insect larvae. It makes a home among the large roots close to the riverbanks coexisting alongside species like Heros efasciatus, Hypselecara temporalis, and Pterophyllum scalare. Keeping these with small fish is not advised.
