Powder Brown Tang (Acanthurus japonicus)

The Powder Brown Tang (Acanthurus japonicus), also known as the Powder Brown Surgeonfish, Japan Surgeonfish, or the White Cheek Surgeonfish, is a beautifully multicolored tang species native the tropical lagoons and reefs of the Indo-Pacific. These fish are solitary as adults and can be aggressive towards similar fish, but are generally peaceful towards most other tankmates. Growing up to 8 inches in size, the Powder Brown Tang is a large and active fish that requires plenty of room to swim in. They are considered reef-safe and will primarily feed on seaweed and algae-based foods, however they will also eat offered meaty foods.
