Venezuelan Striped Pike (Crenicichla sp. ‘Venezuela’)
Price range: $15.99 through $19.99A common and attractively marked species, the Venezuelan Striped Pike is often misidentified as C. strigata in the trade but in fact is an undescribed species found throughout much of the Orinoco River basin along the Colombia/Venezuela border. They are hardy and easy to wean off of live/frozen food but like most Pike Cichlids in the so-called “Lugubris Group” they grow large and are extremely territorial as adults.
