tetragonopterus chalceus

A larger growing characin found throughout much of the Amazon and Orinoco basins, Tetragonopterus argenteus is relatively uncommon in the aquarium hobby.  With their size and bold demeanor, these tetras make an ideal dither fish for medium sized South American Cichlids. Their tank should be kept tightly covered as they are easily spooked and likely to jump out if given the opportunity.
