Eigenmannia virescens for sale

The Glass Knifefish is one of many similar-looking species in the genus Eigenmannia native to the Orinoco and Rio Meta drainage in Colombia and Venezuela. Named for its partially transparent appearance, the Glass Knifefish is a fascinating aquarium resident which tends to be less shy than some of the more well known knifefish species. It is also typically found in large aggregations in the wild and will do best when kept in groups in the aquarium so long as there is ample space and hides in the form of driftwood or caves. Although it is a peaceful species and compatible with most tankmates, they are slow and sometimes finicky eaters so fast-moving or aggressive feeding species should not be kept with these unique fish.
