Brown Longtail Knifefish (Sternopygus sp.)

$19.99

The Brown Longtail Knifefish is likely an undescribed species very similar to the more commonly encountered Goldline Knifefish (Sternopygus macrurus). It originates from Eastern Colombia in the Meta drainage and could potentially be a regional variant of S. macrurus that lacks the distinctive gold line. Based on their body shape and genus this is likely to be a large and outgoing species that will readily eat small fish, making them suited for a species tank or a community aquarium consisting of large but relatively peaceful tankmates. Like most knifefish, they appreciate having ample hiding places but are not particularly shy.
