The most attractively marked of all the Pike Cichlids found in Suriname and Guyana waters, the Multipsinosa or Suriname Flame Pike is a medium growing species in the acuitirostris group of the genus Crenicichla. An elongated and current-loving pike, they display noticeable sexual dimorphism with males exhibiting intense spangling. Females develop deep red coloration along the gill plates and ventral surface. In the aquarium, they are a moderately aggressive pike and can be kept in groups successfully in a sufficiently large tank with plenty of cover.
