Spotted Pinecone Pleco (Pseudorinelepis genibarbis)


A large growing and distinctively armored pleco found in tributaries of the middle Amazon in Brazil, the Spotted Pinecone Pleco is named for its unique large plate-like scales. In the wild, it is usually found in sediment rich white water rivers close to large piles of driftwood or submerged logs. In the aquarium, the Spotted Pinecone Pleco is a hardy and adaptable species, and unlike other large plecos they tend to get along well with other similar species and conspecifics.
