Queen Botia (Botia dario)

The Queen Botia or Queen Loach is a strikingly marked, medium-growing species which inhabits the clear hill streams of Bangladesh and Northeastern India. In the wild, this loach is typically found in loose schools over rocky substrate in areas of moderate to strong current. Like most of the Botias and Loaches, it is a social fish which forms complex social hierarchies and should be kept in groups of at least 5 in the aquarium. Although fast moving and aggressive feeders, the Queen Botia is generally peaceful towards tankmates too large to be eaten and will do well with other medium-sized active tankmates like many barb and danio species.
