Fire Spot Pike Cichlid (Crenicichla sp. ‘Inirida III’)

A rare and spectacularly marked pike cichlid from the Inirida in Colombia and Venezuela, the Fire Spotted or Inirida III pike is a member of the saxatilis-type group. They are found in warm, acidic, fast-flowing waters in the wild but in the aquarium are hardy and relatively adaptable. Like most of their close relatives, this species of Crenicichla is a larger growing predatory fish which should only be kept with large, fast-moving tankmates and will generally behave aggressively towards other cichlids.
