Dusky Narrow Hatchetfish (Triportheus angulatus)

A larger growing, surface dwelling species, the Dusky Narrow Hatchet is found throughout much of the Amazon basin. In the aquarium, they are fast moving and always in motion, best kept in a school of 5 or more fish.  With their size and speed, these tetras make an ideal dither fish for medium sized South American Cichlids. Their tank should be kept tightly covered as they are easily spooked and likely to jump out if given the opportunity.
