The Freshwater Damsel (Neopomacentrus taeniurus) can be found throughout the Indo-Pacific region. Unlike most damselfish, it is euryhaline, meaning it tolerates varying salinity levels. Adults inhabit brackish mangrove estuaries and freshwater streams entering the ocean. These fish are very hardy species in the brackish aquarium.
The Banded Sleeper Goby (Amblygobius phalaena) makes a great addition to the reef aquarium. This larger sand sifting goby will work through the substrate cleaning the sand bed while feeding on small crustaceans and algae. They make excellent community fish with their docile temperament. They will feed on pellets and frozen foods in the aquarium.

Native to the Indo-Pacific, the Scarlet Pin Stripe Wrasse (Pseudocheilinus evanidus) is a hardy, reef-compatible saltwater fish. These brightly colored wrasses are known to be active and solitary fish, darting in and out of your aquascape and foraging on live rock. Growing up to 3-4 inches long, these fish are generally peaceful but tend to be aggressive with other wrasses.
The Green Bird Wrasse (Gomphosus varius), also known as the Brown Bird Wrasse or the Blackbird Wrasse, is native to the tropical reefs of the Indo-Pacific. They are easily identifiable by their elongate and skinny beak that they use to catch their prey. Males have variable green coloration, while the females are brownish black. Green Bird Wrasse are a hardy but active fish that are known to jump and grow up to 11 inches long. As such, they will require plenty of room and rocks to swim in and explore and a tightly lidded tank. Be sure to research potential tankmates, as these fish will prey upon smaller fish and inverts and will be territorial towards most other wrasse.

The Blue Throat Triggerfish (Xanthichyhys mento) is found around oceanic islands and reefs along the continental coasts of the Indo-Pacific. They are considered to be somewhat reef safe, primarily eating zooplankton in the wild.
The magnificent Clown Triggerfish (Balistoides conspicillum) is a prized fish among aquatic enthusiasts. Originating from the Indo-Pacific this fish settles in the clear coastal and outer reef habitats where it feeds on an assortment of invertebrates such as sea urchins, crabs, and mollusks. Considered a solitary fish it can be aggressive toward other fish and is not recommended to be kept with smaller fish. It will consume any invertebrates present in the tank along with small fish. They are personable and interactive showpiece fish in the aquarium.
The Indo-Pacific region’s of clear lagoons and seaward reefs are home to the beautiful Bicolor Blenny (Ecsenius bicolor). It mostly consumes plant matter, including algae, and it can aid in regulating algae growth in the aquarium. The Bicolor Blenny can generally be found hiding among the rocks at the bottom of an aquarium.

A highly sought-after addition among marine enthusiasts, the Niger Triggerfish (Odonus niger) is native to the Indo-Pacific where it inhabits reef channels with strong currents feeding on crustaceans, clams, and zooplankton. This fish boasts stunning deep blue/purple coloring and needle-sharp crimson teeth that are always growing. Depending on its mood, this fish can change colors. Addition to reef tanks or with small or slowly moving fish is not advised.

One of the smaller morays in the aquarium trade, the Snowflake Moray Eel (Echidna nebulosa), also known as the Bosch’s eel, the clouded moray eel, the floral moray eel, or the starry eel, is native to parts of the Pacific Ocean. Their distinct and ornate pattern make them a desirable choice for well-researched reef tanks with lots of hiding places. While they can become aggressive during feeding time, the Snowflake Moray is otherwise generally mellow and can coexist well with tankmates that can’t fit in their mouths!
The Flame Hawkfish (Neocirrhitus armatus), also known as the Brilliant Red Hawkfish, is a bottom dwelling carnivorous fish native to the tropical reefs of the Pacific. As long as they are the only hawkfish (or part of a mated pair), this fish will generally be a great fit for a community reef tank. Be sure to have some decorations or coral, as these fish like to perch and watch their surroundings!

These colorful, fast-growing fish will appreciate lots of swimming space! While generally peaceful towards other tankmates, Blonde Naso Tangs can be aggressive with each other.
From the Western Pacific, the Pajama Cardinalfish (Sphaeremia nematoptera) is a popular choice for peaceful aquariums. They are also known as the Spotted Cardinalfish, Coral Cardinalfish, or Polkadot Cardinalfish. Best kept in small schools, these brightly colored, carnivorous fish are a great option for a community saltwater tank.
The Coral Beauty Angelfish (Centropyge bispinosus), known for its vibrant orange and purple coloration is one of many dwarf angelfish species available in hobby. They are considered peaceful with other fish and reef safe. Only growing to around 4 inches, they can be housed in a 40g aquarium or larger.
The Half and Half Wrasse or Thicklip Wrasse (Hemigymnus melapterus) is a large wrasse species that can grow up to 36″. The are only appropriate for the largest of marine aquariums. Juveniles have the distinct bicolor coloration that changes to a beautiful green as they mature. Keep their adult size in mind when adding to the aquarium, smaller fish and invertebrates will get eaten. It is advised to add them to a established aquarium with a fine sandbed so they can bury themselves when they feel the need to seek shelter.
